Acupressure Mini-Facial
By the time
we're adults, we develop habitual facial expressions and tension
patterns in these muscles. Here's how to use acupressure points to
release tension and promote circulation.
Step by Step Instructions:
1. If possible begin with a freshly washed face and clean hands.
2. The dots are colored for ease of reference and to indicate which type of meridian you're working with:
Yellow = Earth element, Stomach Meridian
Green = Wood element, Gallbladder Meridian
Blue = Water element, Bladder Meridian
Red = Fire element, Triple Warmer
Black on white = Central Channel
Begin by resting your hands gently over your face and closed eyes to center and relax.
Then, using the index and middle fingers together, hold both points in this sequence:
1. Hold the larger yellow points, with firm pressure up against the zygomatic arch.
2. Hold the smaller yellow points to release jaw tension.
3. Hold the blue points to undo tension from frowning or concentration.
4. Hold the green points near the corner of each eye, followed by the green points over each eyebrow.
5. Press the red points located at the end of each eyebrow, and then finish by holding Central Channel points (black dot on white dot), first under the nose and then the chin. If you like, while holding any of these points, you can do small circles with your fingertips (gently!) to dissipate any congested energy.
End with a scalp massage, using your fingertips, not fingernails, and focus on the area near the forehead, jaw, ears and suboccipital area. Finish as you began, by cupping your hands over your face, eyes closed.
