 Muscle Testing and Balancing

Useful for finding out about:

• What
foods to avoid or that may be helpful;
• Possible allergens;
• Priorities in the energy systems for rebalancing;
• Emotional issues that relate to current physical imbalances;

and more!

What It Is...
Muscle testing is a delicate feedback system which provides you information based on whether or not key muscles can maintain contraction when tested after your being is questioned about a specific issue. It is done through clothing, with client in supine or inn a seated position.

There are many approaches used in muscle testing, but they all come down to the basics -- asking the body to give yes/no responses by holding a firm contraction in a specific muscle, or being unable to hold the "lock" of the muscular contraction while holding an item being tested or being asked a specific question.

How Does It Work?
It's based on the theory of the wholeness of the body, mind and spirit -- that you can access information and the wisdom of your body and your Higher Self via the muscles.  There are a few key muscles that work very well for this.  However (and this is a big however), for it to be accurate, the following conditions must apply:

1.  Your key muscles must not be injured and the joint(s) that are used in the pressure tests must be free of pain and injury;

2.  Other systems in the body should be in balance for best accuracy.

3.  You must be properly hydrated.

4.  The practitioner must know what he or she is doing and recognize when the muscle isn't holding properly.  The practitioner also needs to know the correct amount of pressure to apply- too much "recruits" other muscles to help hold the contraction.

5.  You'll get more accurate information if you can be objective about the answer.  Also, avoid looking directly at the practitioner during the testing, and don't lock your gaze on strong colors,which can also influence the outcome (albeit subtlely).

Muscle Balancing
Muscle balancing is a part of this system and works with specific muscles and muscle groups to return them to a homeostatic state, meaning that the muscle is in its best position and has the optimal amount of tone.  This is often good preparation for the muscle testing session.

A muscle can be tested for tone in a variety of ways.  For example, it can be tested for tone by holding the "north" pole of a magnet designed for this purpose against the muscle while pressing lightly on the limb associated with the muscle.  This should cause the muscle to relax.  Holding the South pole of the magnet to the same muscle should "tonify" it, allowing it to hold a contraction.  The same effect can be done on a balanced muscle by stimulating the belly of the muscle or it's origin and insertion.

With muscle testing, you're utilizing this system of lock/unlock to receive communication from the body, usually about foods to avoid or that may be helpful; possible allergens; feedback about priorities in the energy systems for rebalancing; emotional issues, and more.

The results are as accurate as the practitioner's knowledge, skill, neutrality about the questions being asked, and the client's neutrality and motivation for receiving answers.  Also, the client's body must be within reasonable balance energetically for the best accuracy.

I recommend receiving acupressure and Reiki for perhaps 15-20 minutes prior to doing muscle testing for the best results, to in essence prime the biocomputer.  These sessions truly open the doors to your intuition.

Not only do we ask your body about priorities and feedback, you can also receive recommendations for modalities that may help return you to balance, and there are many possibilities.  Ayurveda, acupressure, Reiki, yoga, guided visualization, and stress management are only the beginning.
This is fascinating work, with many possible applications.
